Is myspace that bad.....?

to start off, as many people might know, if your through the ages of 12-20 you would want a myspace.I am 14. about 80% of all my friends have or had a myspace before. My paretns will not let me have a myspace, unless i can prove tothem that it isnt that bad of a site.

so....

i want to know stuff about myspace. is it really that bad?

many people have told me that you can block people from seeing your page, and they can only acess your page if you allow them. if this is true, i dont see why they willl not allow me to make a myspace page. so if their is any information i might want to know about myspcae ( good and bad ) let me knoe please.

There is nothing wrong with myspace. It's only the stupid girls that go meet some random guy and get killed. It isn't myspace's fault, its their stupidity and ignorance.

Your parents should let you have a myspace. There's no big deal about it. Just be sure not to put anything too personal on it. Name, picture, interests, etc is fine though. It's a good way to keep in touch with friends. You don't get to see all of your friends at school, and myspace allows you to talk to them without the hassle of having to find them or call them.

Well actualy there are some bad things like you can get hacked but that doesent jhappen much now Tom(the owner) has changed it and if you have safe friends on it then yes its safe.

you can make your page and pictures private so only friends can view them. you can delte friends once you get them if you do not want them to see your information. you hand pick who your friends are. my mom was worried about security. i have had one for over 1 year with no problems. she is happy about that.

If you are under the age of 18 youor profile is automatically blocked from anyone who is not your "friend". there are options to block people of certain ages from even contacting you also. It's not a bad site but there are some people who like to use it as a "hook up" spot and post slutty pictures of themselves a lot. just avoid that and it should be fine. your parents are good for watching out for you.

its not that bad as lond as you don't put personal info up, like your adress or phone number. and make it private, so that only your friends can see it.

its fine, you can set your profile on private so only the president of myspace can see it. then, your real friends can get your URL and request you as a friend. then you can accept or deny anyone. so only your friends can see your profile or send you comments. you can request people as friends too. its safe :-)

no its not bad, my dad wont let me have on either... you can set ur page to private and only ur friends can see the page, and you of course, tell them youll give them the password and everything and they can check it when they want

No. Its nots bad at all if your not stupid.

You can block people.

And you can set your profile to private where they have to be on your friends list to see your profile.

There is also a setting where they have to know your last name to send you a friend request.

You're not going to like me for this one but your parents are right. You don't need a MySpace right now. It suggests a lot of things that a 14 year-old shouldn't be exposed to on a consistent basis. Sex sells so there are way too many sexual ads, too many preditors (guys looking for little boys to have sex with as well), and there's far more things to do than have a MySpace account. You see your friends all the time, do you really need a computer to keep up with them? My younger cousin is your age and met up with a 21 year-old guy on there. You can just imagine what happened. You have parents who look out for you and that's cool. It sucks now but you'll thank them later when you start to have kids of your own.

P.S.

You can't always block anyone you don't want on there. People have a way of disguising themselves and they do it ALL THE TIME.

some myspace members' profiles are inappropriate, but others not. u can set ur profiile to private so nobody can ur profile unless their ur friend. and u dont have to post all ur personal information on ur profile! u r probably responsible enough to know right from wrong on myspace, and ur parents should know that!

Myspace is the DEVIL! J/K... actually it is ok as long as you don't live on it. Some people are on it for hours a day! I personally don't really think myspace is all that. Some people have myspace... some people don't. Heck... some people create their own personal websites (myspace has limitations). It is easy to learn and do (making websites).

There are dangers about social networking sites like myspace (Dateline NBC and other things in the media). But just be careful and don't put a lot of personal information on your site (like address, phone number, where you work etc). You can block users.

Myspace has alot of security features set up for underage users.

It is as safe as you want it to be.

I personally like it because it is much easier to stay in tourch with old friends and family from out of town.

If your parents are willing to monitor your Myspace to make sure that your profile is private, etc. I don't see where they should have a problem with you having a Myspace account. But 14 is a bit young to be let loose on Myspace with all of the freaks on the internet.

myspace isn't bad to me but it could be in the wrong situation I guess.. For me and many it is a great place to personalize a page that suits you and you get to easily stay in touch with current friends and family that move away or if you move or if you do live in the same town just to keep in touch. Even reunite with old friends, I have run across so many of friends I grew up with along with them finding me on there. Which was really nice. Now,... it could be a bad place that a parent might not want their 14 year old daughter hooking up with or meeting adult internet predators or something. Other than that it is a good place in my opinion.
