No... and although others here suggest blocking them that will delete the person from your friends list. So if you do not want them to message you then just block them.

ya there is when they send you a message on top the will be something that say block this user and they will not be able to message you or contact you but will still be on your friends list

I don't think so. Just ignore/immediatly delete them until you are ready to start seeing what they write.

If they are spaming you because their account is messed up, send them a message letting them know that.

When the message comes in, look in the top right corner for a link to Block User. If at any time you want to unblock them, view your blocked users inside the Account Settings page.

Blocking the user the way other people have suggested will automatically delete them from your friends list as well.
